MICHAEL JACKSON – THE MOONWALK
This piece captures one of the most iconic moments in music history: Michael Jackson during his legendary moonwalk.
It was May 16, 1983, when Jackson performed “Billie Jean” on the Motown 25 television special. During that performance, he performed, for the first time in front of a large audience, the move that seemed to make him slide backward without moving his feet. In just a few seconds, the moonwalk went down in history.
“Billie Jean,” released in 1983, became one of his most famous songs and contributed significantly to the success of Thriller, the album that would change the history of pop music forever.
Billie Jean was not a real person. The story is interesting: Jackson said the song was inspired by a woman who claimed he was the father of one of her twins. The story deeply affected him and became the inspiration for the song.
But Billie Jean wasn’t her real name. Michael Jackson and producer Quincy Jones also decided to use it to avoid confusion with a famous tennis player of the time, Billie Jean King.
The song isn’t simply about a love story, but also about fame, accusations, responsibility, and the price of fame.
Interesting Facts
Jackson didn’t invent the Moonwalk: similar moves had already been performed by other dancers, but he turned it into a worldwide phenomenon.
Before his performance for Motown 25, Jackson had practiced by watching street dancers and artists perform similar techniques.
Billie Jean’s performance was so powerful that, after the broadcast, the Moonwalk immediately became one of his trademarks.
Jackson was famous for his obsession with perfection: he rehearsed his movements until they were extremely precise, paying attention to even the finest details.
His famous white glove wasn’t just an accessory: it helped draw the audience’s attention to his movements, becoming one of the symbols of his image.
MOONWALK PENDANT MEDITATION
by COPPER NATURA
Take a few moments for yourself.
Sit comfortably, dim the lights, and let the space fall silent (lighting a candle will make the atmosphere even more relaxing).
Wear the pendant around your neck as you begin this little journey.
Listen to the music below, created exclusively for you by Copper Natura (inspired by Billie Jean herself, but with the addition of an instrument that didn’t yet exist at the time: the handpan), and close your eyes.
Breathe slowly and deeply into your belly. Inhale through your nose, let your abdomen gently expand… then exhale slowly through your mouth, letting go of tension and thoughts.
With each breath, imagine building energy.
Let the rhythm of my handpan accompany your breathing and let the music transport you, without you having to do anything.
For the entire duration of the piece, listen, breathe, and let go.
When the music ends, slowly open your eyes.
And now… let go!
Stand up, move your body, improvise a few steps, do a little moonwalk, or simply dance as you feel most comfortable.
The energy you build during meditation is not an energy to be held back.
It is an energy to be lived.
Copper Natura – works that transform a simple moment into an experience.
This creation is not intended to simply represent an artist: it captures a moment when music, dance, and performance met, transforming a few steps into a gesture recognized worldwide.
Thank you for purchasing this pendant.
